Backup & Restore Options
-
My questions apply to any WP.com website. I am familiar with exporting a site as an xml file as a partial backup & restore measure. I say “partial” because widgets, images, etc. are not exported. Even if I have the images and widget data saved locally, there can still be much setup and customization to return a site to its original state. (Someone please correct me on this point if I’m wrong.)
Also, I know there are backup services such as vaultpress.com, although I’m not sure it’s compatible with WP.com. Additionally, I understand that WP.com’s servers are very secure, which reduces the possibility of malware and site infection.
My questions:
1) What backup measures, if any, does WP.com take?
2) If WP.com has an automated backup, is it documented anywhere?
3) Is it recommended that regular backups of a WP.com site be created, other than an xml export?
2) If so, how would one accomplish this? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Added info:
(1) The Safe Bet – Use an Offline Blog Editor
http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/ as every post and page you create will produce a backup copy automatically on your own computer.
(2) If you provide full posts in the RSS feed.
(3) Periodically Export Backup Copies and Save them to Disc

(4) Back-up using using Feedburner and Gmail
