Backup SQL file corrupted

  Hi there, we are moving our site to a new host. From the backup we were loading it into the new host and it was going fine. However, when we got to the SQL file, it said it had an error. We went and created a new file, but the same thing happened again. We have been told the file is corrupted, but we don’t know how or why that’s happening. We do not need any of the comments in the old database (there was only one or two). We’re stuck now without our pages showing up. Does anyone have any idea what we can do please? Suggestions are much appreciated!
