badges work in firefox broken in IE
-
Hi! I have VERY limited ability with techo stuff so I hope that someone can help me with a plain English solution. I understand that my problem is common but I haven’t understood any of the solutions that I have seen discussed. My new blog http://redbuttonblog.wordpress.com has badges in the sidebar. The images are hosted in my flickr account and they link to each of the categories I have created for the blog posts. In Firefox they display and work perfectly, but in IE there is a second broken link next to each one. It’s looks really weird and I don’t know what I need to put in the text widget to fix it.
This is an example of the what I have in each text box for each badge:
I’m in Australia where it’s now 11:45 pm so I’ll check back tomorrow a.m. to see if anyone has replied.
Thanks in advance!

The problem is in your RSS feed widget at the top of the blog and it is cascading down through the other stuff in the sidebar.
First off, do not use relative URL, use absolute with the full URL. Relative URL’s can really mess things up.
There are also some double “double quote marks” and a couple of them are “curly” quote marks as shown below and curly quote marks will not work:
<a href="//redbuttonblog.wordpress.com/feed”"> <img src="//faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/j28.png”/> </a>Replace the RSS stuff in your top text widget with the following:
<a href="http://redbuttonblog.wordpress.com/feed"><img src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/j28.png" alt="" /></a> Post FeedAlso, your flickr about button code is all messed up. My suggestion is to open a draft post, insert and link the image in the post and then when inserted and linked switch to the HTML tab, copy all the code there out and then paste it into the text widget. That way you don’t have to worry about HTML or curly quotes or anything like that. WordPress will take care of it for you.
