banner hidden unless in edit mode?

I’m using the Benevolence theme at http://foreclosureofamerica.wordpress.com/ . I’m pretty comfortable with editing css files so I purchased the upgrade to make changes. I made the changes and replaced the css. Now here’s the weird part. If I’m in FireFox and using the “edit CSS” feature it looked perfect but when I closed the “edit css” window the banner goes away.

After flailing a bit I decided to copy the original css, restore the original header and get back to ground zero. But alas, the same thing happens. Black banner unless I’m in the css edit mode of FireFox.

    Help please.

First, when you have CSS, you have to include the full path to the image in order for it to work. A relative url will NOT work.

If you want to completely restore the original CSS, delete everything from the edit window, click on the “Add this to {theme name} CSS” and save. Don’t copy and paste the original CSS into the box, because the url problem I mentioned then shows up, which is what I see in your CSS.

I thought I had done that but apparently not. That worked. Thank you so much Vivian.

Not a problem :) I can see the image now.
