  How do I change the picture in the banner of my blog?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  That’s your blog’s header image which can be changed from Dashboard > Appearance > Header screen.

  Remove the current image and upload a new one.

  Another question. How do I change the thumbnail that appears next to the title of the blog, and as a square in the middle of the banner when the blog appears as an email?

  No, the thumbnail next to the title of the blog, like a favicon. It also appears as a small square tile in the centre of the picture on the WP home site identifying my blog. It set itself automatically when I created the blog and was the same image as the original header banner. I assumed it would change when I changed the banner but it didn’t, so I now have a mix of the two.

  Oh, that one!

  It is blavatar (favicon) which you can change by following the steps in the Blavatars support document :-)
