Barnsbury Theme – Background Image
-
My background image looks great & sharp in “edit” mode, but when I preview the page, the background image become pixelated and blurry. Why would my photo change from edit to preview mode? Help, I’m trying to get my site approved, but the client is seeing pixelated photos. My image is 2880 x 1500px @ 96ppi.
Thanks, Michelle

Hello there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
When I take a look at the site, I’m not seeing any pixelated images.
Is there a page in particular where you’re seeing this on?
Also, I notice the site is on the business plan, the first port of call for support should be: https://wordpress.com/help/contact – this is because the forums are not monitored in real time.
I hope this helps so far. :)

Hi there, thanks for your help. I did contact the support team. I’m still waiting on a response. This site is going for final approval on Thursday, so I need to fix this.
This page is a good example. https://careyourwayaz.wpcomstaging.com/contact/
The top hero image, the faces are pixelated (see forehead/eyes/hair), but in edit mode the faces are beautiful, sharp, crisp and high quality.I was told the resolution can be different between the editor and the preview. I’m just not sure why they would chose having the image go from good to bad. Doesn’t make sense.
Thanks for any help.

It may be hard to see if you don’t have a photographer’s eye. But if you open the page in edit mode, and open a second window in preview mode, side-by-side, you will see the difference.
The woman on the right is even blurry. I realize this seem nit-picky, but it’s a really bad theme issue. The preview should match the editor.

Hi there,
I was a fine art photog in a past life, so I do see the issue. Here is a screenshot of what I saw:
That is a little hard to make out, but you can easily see the difference by viewing the screenshot at full resolution here: https://d.pr/i/5swY0k
Because this is the forum for free sites (which do not operate the same as sites on our Business Plan) there is a limit to how we are able to help here. However, I have added my findings to your other support contact so someone from our Business team can pick up where I’ve left off and get you the help you need. Look for their reply via email to your inbox.
In the meantime, to temporarily resolve the issue please visit your Jetpack Performance settings, and turn OFF the Enable site accelerator option. https://careyourwayaz.wpcomstaging.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack#/performance
This will return your live site image to full resolution while our team takes a look and gets back to you via email. Thanks for your patience!

Hi Jerry,
That worked! Thank you soo much. I never knew about the Jetpack Performance accelerator option. We do have the Business Plan, but it actually is a free theme. It’s just very strange that the preview mode would be the low resolution, rather than the edit mode. Makes more sense to have it the other way around.
Thank you soo much for your help.

Just FYI, I never did hear back from the Business Plan support team, so thanks for your help.
