Basic Font Changes without Subscription
-
I used to be able to change all of the font colours on my blog. I picked the template I have for that exact reason. I am a student and unfortunately can’t afford a subscription but want to continue using WordPress. I’d be sad to leave but feel like I might have to if I can’t do a simple font change without paying money for it. My blog now looks jumbled, half with my new colours and half with the old – unprofessional for someone who hopes to get a job with it one day. Anyone have any advice? As I don’t pay, I can’t contact WP for support either.

Hey there,
Happy to help you with this.
I am a student and unfortunately can’t afford a subscription but want to continue using WordPress. I’d be sad to leave but feel like I might have to if I can’t do a simple font change without paying money for it.
Because of the way themes develop over time, fonts and changing colours of certain have fall under the bracket of advanced customisation, which is available on the premium plan.
We’re totally aware that costs incurred are definitely a matter of perspective, and to help with that, we do have monthly billing for our plans, to help spread that cost.
Something I have seen some users do (especially content creators) is to create a kind of “pay only” section on their site, where the premium content block is used to sell content and subscriptions. https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/blocks/premium-content-block/ – this is possible on the premium plan as well as being able to publish style changes.
The idea is that, the website can fund itself and then some…
I hope this is a useful idea and I’m happy to help get things set up, or just be soundboard for any plans you may have for the site. :)
