  Hi, I just activated a new, free account on WordPress. I did not download the software. Can you please tell me a good place to learn the basics? Thank you very much, Scott

  Congratulations on getting started with your WordPress.com website!

  A great aspect of choosing WordPress.com as you have done is that there is not any software to download. The website and all software is hosted at WordPress.com courtesy of the company called Automattic.
