This is a very odd questions and I’d really rather email a particular party rather than post this to a public form. I set up a blog in 2012 which I never completed / utilized, but would now like to do so. If I find content there now, is that what I had written at that time? Or was there pre-populated content that I need to know about????

There wouldn’t be any content on the blog when you created it. If you asked us to add a demo content at any moment, you’d probably be able to say it was a demo content and had nothing to do with your blog.

OK … I think I understand you to mean that if I found content on my blog when I went there yesterday for the first time in 8 years, I am the one who must have created it.
That is what I was hoping was the answer, because it included a quote from Madeleine L’Engle and some sentences that sound like me, so I just left it there and worked it into my comments about my LONG gestation period in giving birth to my first blog post.
My concern was that it was something WordPress.com had put there and I have no reason to claim them as my words.

No worries, I had a look at the history of your site and I didn’t find any evidence that any demo content was added to your site so you can be sure that all that’s there is yours :)

Here’s another newbie question: how do people “follow” my blog? Was I supposed to add something they click on? I have a few followers now and I don’t even understand how they did that 😳

They’ve likely discovered your content through their own Reader. This is an organic way for your content to be discovered by folks with similar interests.

There’s another option you can add to the site which would allow folks to follow you through their email address.
