Basic plan and custom domains

I am wondering if a subscription to the Basic plan includes the option to have a professional email address. Every time I try to add a custom email domain, the WordPress site attempts to make me subscribe to the Premium plan with no option of choosing a Basic plan.

I am wondering if a subscription to the Basic plan includes the option to have a professional email address.
You mean the Personal Plan right? If so, you can have full email hosting with the Personal Plan. The Personal Plan comes with one free custom domain registration, so you can have an email address with the domain.
However, if you try to add a custom domain first, it leads you to upgrade to the Premium Plan automatically. Therefore, please kindly to go to https://wordpress.com/plans/ and upgrade your plan first. Next, you can add a custom domain and set up an email address with the domain.
