Basic Plan vs Upgrades

  I have a basic (free) plan. My followers cannot find me by Goggling my name. Nothing shows up on Goggle. What can I do to get my name recognized on Goggle. The ONLY way it shows up is if my first and last name are stung together with any space. But people DO NOT seek info for people that way.

  If I upgrade what happens to my Blogs posted and can I change the way Goggle will find me?

  It is unfortunate that someone with the same name has already established an internet presence. It is interesting that Goggle seems to search the body of posts for keywords rather than titles of blogs. If you Goggle Steve Defillippo WordPress then you are first on the page. I don’t think upgrading from free to a paid plan will change things though there are options with the Business plan. Lots of hints and tips here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/seo/

  In addition to what others have said I do have some tips which may help you rank better in search engines. WordPress.com provides site owners the option of adding Google Search Console to their site, this tool can be used to see how Google sees your site and identify any problems.

  To set up search console go here:

  The next thing I would do is change your site’s title from the current “stevedefillippo` to something like “Steve Defillippo” which can be done in the general settings:

  Lastly, to address your original question about if upgrading will help your search rating this isn’t something we can guarantee, but all plans come with the ability to add a custom domain such as stevedefillippo.com (which is available as of this posting) which could help with how you come up in search results.
