basic posting

honest to god, i am trying to find the answers in the forum, but it seems like if i write anything of length when i go to publish, i get a page that asks me if i would like to edit the post. no matter what i choose, the content seems to be lost – though it appears to automatically saving whilst i work. i know i am new, don’t mean to pester, but i can’t figure out why i can sometimes post and other times not.
    TIA,
    lisa

Note that you can increase the size of the editor box here -> Options -> Writing
scroll down to: Size of the post box:___lines increase the number and click “Update Options” to save.

If that doesn’t work and you need to post again then please post this important information which is required to help you:
your operating system, the browser and version of it you are using, and a link to your blog.

the editor has been known to act wonky every now and then. you should always save your post in notepad just as a precaution. that said, if this problem continues to persist, you might want to report to feedback and see if anything can be done.

I ran across something like that a year ago, so try this workaround:

Just before you’re ready to hit Publish click anywhere in the text box and select ALL the contents (I use Control A for that). Then hit Copy (Control C). Then, while everything is still selected and highlighted, hit Publish. See if that helps.

I’ll throw out another option. Use an offline writer. I use BlogDesk on Windows. I don’t do anything with the WP editor anymore unless I’m posting away from my home computer. Nice part is that it also creates an offline copy of your posts. Nice for those of us who are OCD about back ups.

::note to self: need to download the WP .xml of my blog again::

BlogDesk works very well. It’s free and easy to use because it’s intuitive. You can publish posts to your blog directly from it and you can also post-date posts for publication using it. http://www.blogdesk.org/en/index.htm

Thanks for the link TT. I forgot to add it to my bookmarks folder of download/installed software.
