Basic posting and editing

    I just set up a website on wordpress.com, not wordpress.org, and I am trying to follow the directions on your website to edit and post. However, my site doesn’t look like the examples you show. For instance, I can’t find the general settings page. When I click on the Settings icon, the options are not what are shown on your support page. I need basic help to understand how to do really basic things. I am wanting to post a writing passage each day, not sell anything.

    Hi there
    Your page have the customizing tool at the bottom-right when you enter the WordPress.com and go to your site.
    Maybe you can change your writing passage by clicking that.

    Hi there @singlehumanwoman, You’ll find the General Settings for your site in your dashboard at https://wordpress.com/settings/general/

    To write a new post from your site’s dashboard, you should see a link to WRITE in the admin bar at the top right, or click here: https://wordpress.com/block-editor/post/

    You’ll find a comprehensive guide to using the new Block Editor at https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/

    You can also find a full guide to recreating the look of the sites demo page in your theme’s showcase page. Since your above site has not yet been launched, we can’t see what that is, so head over to the Theme Showcase at https://wordpress.com/themes/ and then type in the name of your site’s theme in the search bar. Then click on the INFO link that will appear when hovering your cursor over the theme thumbnail and follow the directions there.
