Basic question about saving changes
-
I have put together a page, which should be the About page, the first one a user sees. However, I can’t seem to make the changes ‘stick’. How do I save and then logout so my work is still there later?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
As you write and edit your posts and pages on WordPress.com, the changes you make are automatically saved every few seconds. In the Publish Module at the top left of the editor, you’ll see when the entry was last saved and can click Save to force the editor to save.
If you are editing a post or page that has already been published, autosave continues to work but will not overwrite the published content. The changes will not be displayed on the blog until you click the Update Post/Page button in the Publish module. You can find the last autosave, if there is one, and other post revisions in the Post Revisions Module.

Thank you.

Hello, and thank you. I think my problem is that what is called the “home page”, where there is a block for Blog Post, is not what I want the user to see first. There is another page, called the About page, that has the information I want the user to see first. How can I make that page the very first page a user sees? I really don’t want a Blog block; this is a simple site to let users know when and where a group meets.

Hi again,
By default the front page of your WordPress.com site will display latest posts from your blog. If you like to have the About page as your homepage, please follow the steps below.
Launch the Site Customizer and click on the Homepage Settings tab on the left.
Select the A static page option, then choose About page from the Homepage drop down.
If you would like to have a blog, you have the option to set up a separate page to display your recent posts elsewhere on your site.
As with setting about page as your static homepage above, you will need to create a new page called “blog” and return to the site customizer, and choose this page from the Posts page drop down.

Thank you.

I’m so sorry to be so dense, but I still cannot save changes that I think I’ve made. I can’t find most of the modules you refer to, I don’t know how to get to them. I have a first page with a photo, and text over the photo. I need to change the color of the text so it isn’t hidden or washed out by the photo. I go to palettes, make changes, update, but still, the changes aren’t made. Is there a simple Save button somewhere?

Hi there,
I can’t find most of the modules you refer to, I don’t know how to get to them.
Could you please be more specific regarding which modules you are not able to locate?I need to change the color of the text so it isn’t hidden or washed out by the photo. I go to palettes, make changes, update, but still, the changes aren’t made.
Color Palettes is for choosing the background color of your blog and not for text. Color of text won’t change when you go to color palette and make changes.
To change the color of text requires Custom CSS. Custom CSS is part of Custom Design, which is a feature of the WordPress.com Premium and WordPress.com Business plans.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/But what I would suggest is to remove the background image by going to My Site(s) → Customize(Beside the Themes option) or just click here: https://wordpress.com/customize/. This will open the site Customizer.
2. On the sidebar of the Customizer go to Colors & Backgrounds and click on the default button beside background. This should make your background white thereby giving more visibility to text in a page.
3.Next go back and click on Featured Prompt and fill in
