  I’m afraid doing that is a ToS violation. It sounds as if you did not read this section before purchasing the upgrade http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

  May I remove credit links such as ‘Blog at WordPress.com’, theme, font, or toolbar links?
  All WordPress.com bloggers are required to maintain the credit links, even our VIP bloggers. Please do not hide or alter text or links for the footer credits or the toolbar. Modifying the style of the footer text (i.e. colors and font size) is fine as long as it’s still readable.

  You can, of course, insert words indicating that you styled the theme. However, you most certainly cannot claim to be the theme’s designer because you aren’t nor can you claim to be hosting the blog because you aren’t.

  You can also self-host your own WordPress installation of the WordPress.org software. WordPress has made it very easy, but there is more responsibility. You can find some suggested hosts here: http://get.wp.com/hosting/

  Make sure and check with the theme designer about removing credits as some do not allow it.
