Baskervill 2 theme: header blurry and cane I make my logo larger?
-
I’ve uploaded a larger image for my header, and after I crop it, the size is reduced way down to the point where it looks really blurry.

Here is the clarity when cropping

This is how blurry it looks after because the size is reduced

Is there any way around having the image size automatically shrunk?
Also, is there a way I can make my “logo” larger? If I try and make it part of the banner image, it becomes very faded and greyed out, so I created it as a logo, but I would like it larger.
Is it possible to customize these with the theme I have, the free version? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Happy Friday –
I’ll be glad to take a closer look at this. Are you able to confirm which site you’re working on? I don’t see the URL mentioned in the post. If you have access to the original file you could try saving it at different resolutions and see if that makes any difference in the appearance of the reduced size.

Thank you so much for being willing to look at this.
Here’s the URL:
https://wordpress.com/home/home123451.wordpress.comI have tried uploading it at multiple sizes/resolutions, and they all end up the same 1440 x 220 (29 kb) version.
When I upload my banner image, I’m not given the option to bypass the “crop” option, and so when I crop it, I believe that is when the resolution is greatly reduced.

It looks like you’re uploading larger images than the recommended 1440px × 221px size. Are you able to resize the header in your graphics program before you upload it? That would likely remove the problem when the header is resized.
With the Site Logo, that’s limited to a width of 600px and a height of 150px, so your logo would need to fit within that height and width.
I hope that helps!

I appreciate the information about the logo size.
I’ve tried many different sizes, several at the 1440 px x 221 px at 72 dpi, 150 dpi and 300 dpi. None of them seem to come through any clearer. :(

Thanks for trying that! I reached out to our theme team and that appears to be the current behavior for the header image in the Baskerville 2 theme. :(
It’s been reported by other users, so I’ve added yours to the report. Unfortunately, that means your header will be blurry for now – you may also have luck with a different theme.
Sorry I couldn’t be more help!

I appreciate your looking into that!
If it does get resolved, is there any way we will know, or will we just have to keep checking up on it?
