I checked out your test gallery post, but there are no images found there – perhaps you removed them from your Media Library.
Could you please try creating the gallery again, within the post itself? The special Baskerville 2 gallery feature only works if you upload the gallery images from the post, not if you upload them first in the Media Library.

I did that: dragged and dropped several images into the post. Then it worked fine. However… it does defeat the purpose in a sense as the post/gallery looks pretty ordinary for an image gallery, as you’re left with no control over how the images appear.
I guess it’s a choice: Utilise the feature so the blog page looks smart (at the cost of the post page); or abandon the feature, so the post page looks smart.

UPDATE:
I went back into the post, and added the same pics from the media library (that I’d previously dragged/dropped in); set them up; then deleted the single images from before… and it still works on the front of the blog.
THE WEIRD THING: If I go into the post, to edit the images in the library, and I delete one from the post, it still shows up on the front blog page. In fact, if I delete ALL images from in the post, the front blog page still runs the deleted images.

Hello again, If you clicked update or publish after making those changes, by your description, it sounds like you are looking at a cached version of your page. Try hard refreshing the browser window.

Baskerville 2 is not designed as a portfolio theme, so there’s no portfolio template to apply to pages, but if you decide to add portfolio projects, you’d be able to link to the portfolio archive (add /portfolio to the end of your domain) or to use the shortcode.

Regarding the gallery post, it should be possible to get have both a carousel on the blog page and an image gallery within the post itself, as you can see on the demo, on the post “Outside of the Frame.” I’ll try outlining the steps again more clearly, to see if it helps:
- Create a new post.
- Select the gallery post format.
- Add a gallery to the post, and choose whether you’d like a thumbnail gallery, tiled recttangles, circles, etc. Be sure to upload fresh images for your gallery – don’t select images that were previously uploaded to the Media Library.
- Publish the post and view it as a single post and on the blog.

Okay, so that worked better. All required images have to be dropped in at the same time, however, in order to have control over how the images appear in the post.

Hello again. I’ve just been going thru the process of transferring from WP.com to WP.org. Using a Bluehost package (domain & hosting).
I followed the instructions for exporting the .com site & importing it into .org.
Problem is, not finding the same Baskerville theme.
Is there an issue with that? The one here, on .com, is Baskerville 2.
Thoughts?

UPDATE: Looks like I’ve managed to locate it. However, it’s quite different in operation. The control panel doesn’t appear to offer control over font, for instance. Is this correct?

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that the import has been terribly successful. Menu’s are lost. Not seeing where to choose fonts.

Custom fonts and colour palettes are a WordPress.com feature. To add a custom font to a self-hosted site, you could try a Google Fonts plugin.
If you don’t mind letting me know, I’d be interested to know why you decided to switch to a self-hosted site. Thanks!
