Baskerville 2 – Homepage – hiding social media / share buttons on homepage
-
I am wondering if there is a way to hide the social media buttons on the homepage that are shown under the blog post snippets in the mason style grid layout. I’m not talking about the social media menu items that could be placed in the header.
It seems that when share buttons are allowed on a post, they also show up underneath the post snippets on the homepage. I would like to know how to hide or remove those social media buttons while still having them on the individual posts.

Hi there, the site associated with your username is using the Fresh & Clean theme.
You can choose which pages you show the sharing icons on by going to My Sites > Sharing and then click on Sharing Buttons at the top. Under Options, you can deselect to show on Front Page, Archive Pages and Search.
If that doesn’t get you exactly what you are looking for, you can try this custom CSS.
.home div.sharedaddy { display: none; }I worked that out off of my test site, and if that doesn’t work, can I have a link to the site you are talking about that is using Baskerville 2?

Ah! Thank you so much for that! Both pieces of info worked perfectly! That’s exactly what I was looking for.
Since you’re on a roll, do you happen to know if there is any way to limit the snippet and/or title length by character? Everything I’m reading seems to suggest that I would need to get into the javascript to do that.
I like the baskerville theme and want to switch over to it, but I’m trying to see if there’s a way to remove the masonry tiling on the homepage and replace it with a typical grid. I’ve had some minor success using css, but it’s not consistent. I’ve tried things like:
.post-content{
height: 400px;
}article{
height: 900px;
}to try and equalize the blocks, but the snippets and title lengths still cause some problems.

If there’s, any way to change the masonry display to just a standard grid (where all posts are the same size), then yes, I would love some assistance!

I think the best option when trying to manipulate these kind of features is to contact the theme designer directly.
In this scenario, Fresh and Clean is by WPExplorer and you can contact them directly with theme question via the form here: https://help.market.envato.com/hc/en-us

Oh wait – I just went back and re-read this whole thread. Which theme are you using? Fresh & Clean or Baskerville 2? Could you send me a link to the site? Thanks!

Thanks. Sorry for the confusion on my end. I’m having a look now. Will get back to you shortly.

My advice would be to use the exact same size for each featured image. With the read more tag, I’d stick to the same amount of characters for each post where you enter that tag at. This will keep things the same size. You may have to get creative with your phrasing in the post, but I think that will do the trick – and is an easier thing to manage vs CSS changes and what not.

Ok thanks,
I figured there wasn’t a CSS way to really do it well. Unfortunately, I have so many older posts that I don’t see myself going back and changing all of them to have the same number of characters in the title as well as the intro paragraph. I’ll contact the author and see if they have any plans to add features in the future.
Thanks

No worries.
An easy fix is to set a limit for how many posts display on the page, then you only really have to fix that assigned amount.
