Baskerville 2: Huge gap between menu and content on start page
-
Hi,
I am using the Baskerville 2 theme with a free account, and I don’t intend to change to a premium account.
In Firefox and Chrome browsers on desktops there appears a huge gap between the menu and the post on the start site. The gap isn’t there in Samsung Internet and Chrome on smartphone, neither in Safari browser on tablet, neither in IE on desktop.Do you have any advice what this might be?
I switched off ad-blockers, but my Chrome on desktop is clean without any extensions.Thank you in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey glaciers2aral,
I don’t see any gap on your website. It seemed there was an ad between your menu and the content.
But everything appears to be perfect now.
-
Thank you ravichahar,
unfortunately I still have it as described.
Where did you see the ad? And how can I detect where it comes from?
Thanks you again! -
I have tried checking it on Google Chrome, Opera, and Safari. The website looked perfect to me.
WordPress.com displays ads on the websites under a free plan to keep the free things free. To avoid them, you can buy any of the upgraded plans.

Ah, thank you so much, then I just hope, that all other users won’t have the problem as you don’t have it.
It’s a small project, so we decided to stay on the free plan.
Have a nice day and thank you again! -
I’m sorry for asking again, but can anyone else submit, that there is no gap?
I tested it in private browser modus, again on different browsers, and even with different internet providers and VPN – the gap between the menu and the posts on the start page is ALWAYS there.
What can I do to get rid of it – apart from getting on a Premium account?
Please help, it is not possible, that there is such a restriction.
And again, it does only concern desktop view.
Thank you again. -

Hi glaciers2aral,
and it is apparently a bug of the theme
That’s correct, this is a known issue we are looking into at the moment. I’ve passed your report on to our developers so they can look at your site.
We’ll be in touch when we have more news.

Maybe it would be an idea to take the theme off the list of available themes to avoid troubles for other users until the problem is solved.
It took me a couple of hours to learn that I have to switch to another theme, because I need the website and cannot wait for the fix. I even got in touch with the theme developer, who didn’t answer so far.
Thank you anyway, I appreciate your fast and kind support and, of course, the free service to build own websites. Keep it up!

Thanks for the feedback and sorry about the time it took you to switch themes. If you’d like to follow along on the issue you’ll find the GitHub link here:

Hi @glaciers2aral – thank you for this report!
I see that you’ve switched to another theme, but I wanted to follow up to close the loop here.
I believe we’ve found the cause of the blank space you were seeing at the top of the homepage, and have deployed a fix.
I’ve tested other sites that have reported this issue, and things are looking good.
However, we’ve found this issue presents itself inconsistently, so it’s possible we missed a specific case where it can be replicated. If you did choose to try Baskerville 2 again and continue to experience this problem after clearing your browser cache, please don’t hesitate to let us know!
Just let me know if you have any questions at all about the above – thanks!
