Hey @paperthinwallsmusic,
I’m trying to recreate the issue from my end. However, after loading and reloading I can’t seem to recreate it. Do you mind giving us your browsers information? Browser name, version, model etc.
I also recommend following the suggestions that are listedhere to fix any common browser issues that maybe causing the weird font glitch.
Try using other pcs and/or browsers.
Let me know if this helps!
Best,

That’s something you’ll have to live with if you’re not using the default font that comes with the theme. WordPress.com loads the default font initially before calling for any other font you decided on. This is so that people with slower connections see your site sooner, rather than a blank screen whilst the custom font loads.

Hi there,
The effect you’re describing is known as FOUT (flash of unstyled content) and is caused by your theme’s custom fonts.
We used to load a blank page before the content loaded on sites with custom fonts, however, this meant that those viewing the web on slower connections (often mobile) would only see that blank page.
To fix that, we now use the theme’s default font to load the site’s content first. This means that no one is greeted with a blank page. It also means that there may be a flash between the theme’s default and custom fonts when someone first loads your site. This will be most noticeable on slower connections. If Bill is on a quicker connection, then that may explain why he doesn’t notice that flash of unstyled content.
We believe this to be a better overall experience for visitors to your site but understand it’s not perfect either. The team are always looking at better font-loading solutions that will work for all of our users but, for now, this is the default.
We have also come up with some custom CSS as a workaround for those who wish to return to the previous way of loading fonts. I thought I’d share with you, in case you were interested. The following snippet will prevent the flash of unstyled content:
.wf-loading body { visibility: hidden; }As a last workaround, you could also consider using the theme’s default fonts, rather than the custom ones you’ve set via the Fonts panel in the WordPress.com Customizer.
Let me know if the above information helps out or if you have any further questions at all.
