Baskerville 2 Theme Gallery Post Format Is Broken

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello all,

I recently used the Gallery format on the Baskerville theme 2 again and I am still seeing the same issue I had reported in April where the space under the Gallery post extends to infinity and then the blog is all wonky. It keeps scrolling and becomes a bad UX.

The post I had reported in March has been closed without resolution.

Can someone please help? Thanks in advance!

  • Hi @amarllyis,

Thanks for following up — I really appreciate your patience with this. I checked your site just now, and the Gallery post format appears to be displaying correctly. I tested it on different screen sizes as well, and I’m not seeing the infinite scrolling or extra space issue anymore.

Here’s a screenshot from my side for reference: https://utfs.io/f/o9kzPXfbC7I8ZJRgcQMKqF3iUJVI2SCQvKbnDE79AeZfsm6R

Just to confirm — are you still seeing this behavior on your end right now? If so, could you please try viewing the post in an incognito window or after clearing your browser’s cache to see if that helps? You can follow the steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/

Once you’ve had a chance to test, let me know what you find and we can take it from there.

That’s correct. You’re seen this because I changed the post format to Standard because didn’t get any response for months.

I’ve changed the Post Format back to Gallery now. Can you let me know if you can see the issue. I can see it on my side.

Hello again, @amarllyis! Thanks for letting us know about this.

I just double-checked, and everything still looks correct on my end after you changed the post format. Could you please let me know if you’re still experiencing this issue on your side? If you are, please try troubleshooting your browser by following this guide and let me know if the problem persists:

    Hello,

Thanks for checking again. I cleared my browser history and looked at it again. I’ve screen recorded what I can see and attached here. Here are the steps for reproduction of the issue:

    1. Load site
    2. See the gallery post “Postcards from September” and the next card right below it.
    3. Scroll down to footer area.
    4. Scroll back up. Click on the Gallery post “Postcards from September”.
    5. View the post and return to home page either by clicking on Home page name or using back button.
    6. See the gallery post “Postcards from September” has a lot of space below it which extends a lot.
    7. Scroll down to footer area to see how much space is added.
    8. Scroll back up.

Let me know if this helps.

One more bug: If you see the screen recording at 0:21 seconds, the picture is of a small pool in the middle of some trees. If you scroll through the gallery pictures, that picture hasn’t been added to the gallery at all. I also didn’t add it as a featured pic. But it still shows up. This is also kinda strange. I had added that pic in gallery and then removed it before publishing. But it still shows the picture after a viewer clicks on the post and returns to the Home page.

    Hello team,

Can someone please acknowledge receipt of my response? I understand resolution might take time. Just wanted to know that someone has received my responses.

    Thank you!

  • Hi there,

I appreciate your patience while we investigated this!
I can confirm the issue occurs only on your website for now, so we’ll need a bit more time to find out the culprit and we can follow up here once we’re done.

    Best,

Thank you for letting me know. Appreciate it.

  • Hi again, @amarllyis!

Apologies for the lack of updates during this time, but I wanted to share the our developers have fixed the first issue you reported here, so you shouldn’t see that extra space below the gallery post “Postcards from September”. Can you confirm?

With regards to the other issue that displays an extra unwanted image, the team is still looking into it. We’ll let you know once it has been solved.
