Baskerville 2 Theme | Post Excerpts in Search Results

It seems like the Content Options in the Appearance –> Customize menu lets us “Choose between a full post or an excerpt for the blog and archive pages” under Blog Display.

If I choose “post excerpt”, it works well in the blog and archive pages, but search results still seem to show the full posts no matter what.

Is there any way to make this apply to the search results as well?

    Thanks!

  • As mentioned on the “Content options” section, the Post Excerpts would show up only on the homepage, category pages and tag pages.

“Choose between a full post or an excerpt for the blog and archive pages.”

It’s a good catch though, I feel the same as you and would want to see only the post excerpts on search pages too.

I am also tagging this post with “modlook” for WordPress.com staff’s attention. They can take a note of this.

  • Hi there – we’ve logged this suggestion for our developers. If we change the way search results are displayed in Baskerville 2, we’ll keep you posted here.

  • Hello @jengmicah!

We’ve updated how search results are displayed in Baskerville 2, to always use the excerpt, rather than the content, which lines up with how it behaves in most themes on WordPress.com.

    Thanks for reporting this!
