  I’m looking to have every display of multiple posts only show the post title, date, featured photo, and an excerpt (or first paragraph).
  If the post title is clicked, then the entire post (and only that post) should be shown. I can’t seem to find this in any of the themes, is there a setting I’m not finding?

  I’m looking to have every display of multiple posts only show the post title, date, featured photo, and an excerpt (or first paragraph).

  I’ll address these requirements one at a time.

  1. excerpt or first paragraph — There are numerous themes which display abbreviated post content on the posts page, but I’m unaware of a list of them. On any theme you can use More tags to truncate individual posts on the posts page. You have to add the More tag to each post you want abbreviated on the posts page.

  2. post title — Most, if not all, WordPress.com themes display the post title by default on the posts page.

  3. date — The published date of each post will be included on each post on the posts page of many, but not all, themes. Whether it displays is theme dependent. If you choose a theme which doesn’t display the date by default you might be able to add it with CSS customization.

  4. featured image — Whether a theme includes the option of a featured image on posts and/or pages is theme dependent.

  Thanks Musicdoc, I think I found a theme that does the trick, though now I have menu editing issues (refuses to let me click edit the titles, I’ll work it out or reach out).

  Again, specifically regarding the Baskerville theme:

  1. excerpt or first paragraph — In my tests I didn’t find that any posts were truncated on the posts page with the Baskerville theme, without adding a More tag.

  2. post title — Included, at top of each post.

  3. date — Included, at the bottom of each post.

  4. featured image — Available; optional.

  Its the long posts making scrolling to the bottom a pain, the truncated works better for me :)
