Baskerville2

Could someone please explain (in non technical terms if possible) how I get the Masonry element to work on the front page of my Baskerville2 themed site. I only use pages and not posts but I would like some of my pages appearing on the front page.
Also, can use the Masonry element on subsequent pages or is it limited to the front page
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Baskerville has been replaced Baskerville 2. Please upgrade to it and read the full theme description at https://wordpress.com/theme/baskerville-2
re: switching themes
Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs.
Note that switching themes https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes can be easily done, provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the site, you tohttp://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php
*Replace NAME_OF_BLOG in that URL with the actual name of your blog. wp-admin/themes.php
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.
If the issue does not resolve after switching to Baskerville 2 then type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. Thanks for the feedback, but I am using Baskerville2.
It is worth noting that the site is 35squadron.wordpress.com (not the one shown in my initial post). This site is currently set to private due to misuse of the site last weekend, but I am sure you can help without needing to see the site.

re: 35squadron.wordpress.com
Understand that you cannot compel any theme to function in any way it is not designed to function in.
Volunteers cannot view private blogs. I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

…. but Baskerville2 is designed with the Masonry element, as per its front page …. I just don’t understand how you select the posts (pages in my case) that you want it to display

Not to worry as this thread is tagged for Staff help and they will get to it as soon as they can.

I’d be happy to help with this.
To activate the masonry grid on the homepage, it’s important to set it to “Your latest posts” instead of “A static page”.
Here is a step by step guide if you need it:
– Log in to your site and head to the dashboard.
– On the left side of the page, click the button next to Themes that says “Customize”.
– On the left side of this page, click the menu item that says “Static Front Page”.
– Then, select the radio button labeled “Your latest posts”.
– Click the blue button toward the top that is labeled “Save & Publish”(And a video tutorial in case that’s easier: https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/)

Thanks for the response.
This suggests that I can’t use it on a “page only” website (unless I make each page a post) and that the masonry element is only available on the first page and not available for use on subsequent pages.
Are my assumptions correct?

Right, posts are needed for the masonry grid to work.
If you want the grid on pages other than the homepage, you can actually create a Tag or Category Page and (as long as the posts all have that tag or category) they will display in a grid.
Here’s some more information on how to create a Category Page (and it’s the same process for Tag Pages):

Thanks again for the feedback.
The suggested approach will probably work for me if I re-publish everything as a post (rather than a page).
I need to revamp the site so I will have a go and see if I can get the desired structure.

You’re welcome! Come back if you end up with more questions. Otherwise, happy WordPressing!
