Battery Virus attack after changing to Twenty Seventeen theme
-
Yesterday I changed my Theme to Twenty Seventeen. The only new content I added was a few jpg files from my own computer. Subsequently, while checking my site’s appearance on my iPad, I got a popup warning ‘This Apple iPad is corrupted with virus and battery has been damaged.’ and the related ‘offer’ of the Speed Booster app to clean the attack. I’m concerned that this malware has imbedded in my site and will expose viewers to this scam. Suggestions to resolve?

This is unrelated to the Twenty Seventeen theme or WordPress.com. It is more likely that you have malware or adware of some sort on your system. I would encourage you to make sure that nothing has been installed onto your iPad that could be causing this.

First off, Josh, thanks for taking the time to reply. I do appreciate it.
I find it interesting that my own site is the only site where I encounter these random redirections – (besides the ‘battery virus’, I’ve also won several millions of dollars if only I’ll follow up and collect my prize!) And, after viewing my site my husband’s ipad has also mysteriously fallen prey to the same random attacks, but only when viewing my site.
You may entirely be right about the origins of the problem, but I think our experience is more than coincidence.
Thanks again for your time.
