bavotasam.com is a fraudulent webpage developer

bavotasam.com is selling fraudulent “premium” webpages. I used magazine basic, then bought the $66 premium upgrade. It is completely non-functional. The basic version shows proper post formatting and html links. The premium destroys the formatting and html links stop working. Also, the premium includes “support forum” access, but there is NO forum, just a forum page with all links going to “404” pages.
Email from site owner refuses help, refuses refund, and sent me a link to a claimed-working support forum page, but even that link, tried by me within one minute of his email, produced a “404” message. I have kept copies of emails as well as screenshots of the 404 pages, etc.
This seller is a fraud and should not be allowed to be ripping people off on this site or anywhere else, and I am entitled to a refund.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I’m so sorry to hear about this. I went to bavotasam.com and it wasn’t pointing to anything.

However, I feel like there is confusion between WordPress.com and the self-hosted WordPress install. Currently we are the support forums for WordPress.com. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites. With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.

Check here to learn more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

Please note that that site/developer wouldn’t be acting as staff of WordPress. WordPress.com upgrades can only be purchased in your Dashboard in Store – nowhere else. As for the self-hosted WordPress, there isn’t any Premium upgrades offered from us.

Let me know if you have any questions with this.

correct name is bavotasan.com. my error.
the link you provided sends me right back to THIS support site.
you could clearly have found “magazine basic” and “magazine premium” which i DID provide you, had you wanted to spend 15 seconds to see if there was a typo.
in any event, please go to the website and check out the webpages.
this is a webpage that is sold through wordpress.
.org, .com. i don’t have a clue. i’m an end user and i got defrauded.
i would like to add that wordpress (whichever one) represents that these webpages are vetted.
i do consumer protection law and i don’t want to turn this into a lawsuit, but if this nonsense is happening to me it’s happening to lots of other people.
this is the support link from the wordpress that i use. it’s not my problem how wordpress delineates its functions.
i am sick and tired of the “we can’t help you” response. “it’s not my department”.. seriously??
what if this were you? you can’t pick up a phone to the “correct” wordpress and get me an actual person to deal with?
wordpress goes out of its way to hide contact information.
i want help, not the buck passed.

    Hi there,

After further investigation, I found that that you purchased a Premium Theme for your self-hosted, WordPress.org site – not WordPress.com (we are completely separate entities).

this is a webpage that is sold through wordpress. .org, .com. i don’t have a clue.

The difference between self-hosted WordPress.org and WordPress.com is huge here. This is actually the reason I wouldn’t be able to help you. I am working in the support forums of WordPress.com. Currently you are speaking in reference to your self-hosted, WordPress.org site. In addition, since you are self-hosted, I do not have access to your files.

With WordPress.org sites, you can purchase themes through theme developers who are not WordPress staff. You purchased your theme directly from that theme developer. This means that I wouldn’t be able to provide you any type of refund as the theme was not purchased through us at WordPress.com. All billing and support inquiries must go through that theme developer.

do you understand i purchased it ON WORDPRESS? THROUGH WORDPRESS? who represented it was a VALID, WORKING webpage???
Do you not ALSO understand that the link you sent me to for the “correct” support page came back to THIS page??
I’ll just add this to my letter to the chairman, about how unbelievably unhelpful you’ve been. wordpress-wordpress. i don’t care about “org” vs. “com”. same company. same problem

If you purchased your theme through this site, I can definitely help you:

    http://theme.wordpress.com/

However, I can’t find a Premium Theme in your WordPress.com account.

As I mentioned before WordPress.org and WordPress.com are completely separate entities. I can’t help you if you are self-hosted with WordPress.org.

Can you provide me the link you are looking at that is forwarding you to WordPress.com?

It looks like you may have purchased this theme:

    http://themes.bavotasan.com/themes/magazine-premium/

If you purchased that, you would have to speak with that theme developer, not us at WordPress.com. As you can see that is a completely different company.
