bbPress?

I would like to know why WordPress.com, an Automattic product, doesn’t include bbPress, another Automattic product.
Is it possible for WordPress.com add in bbPress? Thanks,
Shane. -

Yep, and I guess bbPress isn’t compatible with WordPress despite the fact it has a WordPress plugin.

What do you mean it’s not congruent with WordPress.com but is with .org? bbPress is created by the creators of WordPress (.com and .org) and thus should be compatible with the .com version.
Plus it would be nice to be able to have a forum plugin, even if it meant having to go premium. (a la like VideoPress, etc)

“Should be” is not the same as “is.” And your version of “should be” is clearly not the same as those of the people who built WP.com. You can buy hosting elsewhere and install a forum in that webspace and link to it, but that’s all.

There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

That only exists onWordePress.ORG installs. There is no upgrade you can purchase here that provides FTP access and the ability to install plugins and Tess already pointed you to my earlier answer made in another thread.
You have three free workaround forum options: http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/04/23/wordpress-com-forum-options/
One approach is to register a forum on the internet and then create a custom menu in your blog and include a custom link to the forum in it.
a custom link to the forum in it.

WordPress.COM owns the sandbox – so it’s their rules on the features they allow on blogs here. You can link to a forum and if you want to be fancy, set the forum up as a sub-domain of a custom domain name used for your blog here
