Ah, come on, I call everyone “guys.”
No offense meant and I certainly know TT is female. :)

Didn’t know that. Sorry.
Here in Germany it might be considered sexist to address a woman like a man/guy. On the other hand it might also be that I’m to emancipated. :)

“Guys” is okay. And when I’m addressing a group of 3-7 year old girls, so is “Ladies!” (especially when they are not acting like ladies).

I’ve learnt something new today. I honestly didn’t know it’s okay this way. So thanks a lot :-D
I always wrote “Hello guys and girls” back in the days to be very inclusive and catch all genders. From the perspective of a german speaking person – constantly translating in his head – the term “guy” clearly addresses only male individuals.

In college (early 70’s) in the “girl’s dorm,” it was the last year we “girls” had curfews, signing in and out, and rules about keeping the doors open during visiting hours if there was a guest (even dad), we girls used “guys” to address a group of female friends. “Hey guys, we’re going to miss lunch!”
In the U.S. (midwest) that useage was common. It is not a new thing. Colloquial, yes. But not new.
One would not usually say, “hi guy!” to only a group of one woman, but to a bunch of ladies, yes, it was acceptable.

Late to the play, but here is an unnecessary link to an example:
