Be the Master of your own domain question.

My blog dashboard contains the following message:

Tip: Be the master of your own domain – make this blog jeskeslaw.com for just $17 per year.

If I take advantage of that offer, what happens to the current url: jeskeslaw.wordpress.com? It’s in a lot of printed material and is used by many to currently access my blog. Will that URL continue to work?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You old URL will continue to work – no content will get lost – you will just have a shorter URL to use – if you don’t renew the Domain name & mapping things just go back to the original blog – complete with the content still being in the blog.

To go along that question, I want to be sure that all my posts created with wordsandpeace.wordpress.com will be redirected to wordsandpeace.com. so that when people click on the link to a post created with wordsandpeace.wordpress.com they will find the post.
Will that work? I thought I read somewhere it would work except for twitter links, but I cannot find where I read this. is that correct?
please advise, looking forward to getting your answer before a possible jump. thanks

Yes that is how domain mapping works – I don’t do Twitter but I can’t think why the same thing would not work with Twitter – I think that Twitter just sends a person to a link – that link still goes to your content – the old URL works just fine.
