Beating a dead horse… tags…

Hi guys, first of all; thanks for a nice environment to blog in.
I do have a question though. Because the purpose of my blog is to see if the internet community likes or dislikes my fiction writing; get the truth from the masses if you will; I am using pages on my blog for the stories. I very much would like the pages sent to the search engines; and have read the other posts here regarding usage of tags in headers. Of course I could have just built a site, but my issue is time and I wanted to join the blogging community. Before I go and spend money on a desktop solution or a web host I do have a question for you guys.Can I specify keywords and / or a web page summary on my pages?

Not entirely clear what you mean, perhaps you could give an example.
There is the ability to add an excerpt which is a brief summary, perhaps this would help you and you could state the keyword summary in that.

You should use categories and tags on your posts, and you should definitely give us a direct link to your blog if you want an opinion on it.

Hi guys, a little clarification for you.
If you build a web site from scratch, you would title the page like this..
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<META NAME=” keyword / or tag if you will” CONTENT=”tag, tag”>
<title> My web site </title>In the HTML books that I own this is listed as / referred to with the technical description Keywords and web page summary; the keywords being to the left under META NAME and the web page summary being to the right under CONTENT.
I do know that if you attempt to do this just by pasting text in the box the code is stripped when it is submitted.
My question is can you do this / or is there a technical work around?
Thanks again so much

Isadora, thanks so much for the answer :o)
I found out too that Google picks up on the categories as well as the tags on the posts, and have used some advice given on this forum about repeating the same tags over and over. Since most of my posts have the same theme this works good. -
Thanks for raising these questions, Freebird1. I am blogging for the reasons you are, and in trying to learn how to drive traffic to/raise awareness of my blog have been unclear as to the best way to categorize and tag my story. So by assigning tags and categories to the posts, that alerts the search engines to their existence?
AIso, I discovered a directory for fictional blogs, called Flogalicious, at http://www.jillianne-hamilton.com/flog I just emailed my site to this directory and cannot yet report on any results. -
You might also check out the posts in this category at Timethief’s Resources blog. There is a lot of useful information there.

Re-reading your original post, I’d advise against using Pages for this and advise using Posts instead, for SEO reasons. Static websites are not nearly as attractive to search engines as a blog with a constantly-updating front page.
