Bee Bopped on my head

  • Unknown's avatar

It’s bad enough that changes made to WP are not being made with my needs in mind. It’s worse when that means that what I have been given isn’t even protected from possible detriment due to those changes in the process. It’s discourteous in fact. Yes, What I have is free. But that’s beside the point.

I just now re-read an old post. I noticed I left an author’s name out of a sentence. Normally when I’m going to edit I go straight to the classic (useable) view. This was three words and a couple of commas (“by Sarah Fulton”) and I didn’t think it mattered whether I used classic view. Except that when I inserted the two words, and returned to viewing mode, the appearance was messed up.

What do I need help with? Hmmm. What do I do about this, because I’m sure there will be nothing I can do other than squawk.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can switch to using the classic editor at any time to create posts and/or to edit them. The edit you describe should not have affected the Appearance in any way.

What is the URL of the post?

Exactly what are the Appearance issues please?

    Hi there!

I’m happy to help you out with your post if you’ll give me a link to it.

You can also set your account to default to the legacy editor by clicking on the link at the bottom of the sidebar in the WordPress.com editor. This link sets a cookie in your browser that tells all of your edit links to default to wp-admin.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Hello. Thanks for responding. I went ahead and immediately fixed the messed up page. I’m very unhappy about that.

In any case, this is the post that was affected:

I don’t see the button to which you refer. Could you link to a diagram or screen shot? I examined both the Bee Bop page, which is the first to load when I click on ‘edit’, and the classic view page. What link? What is the button called? And if it’s a cookie, How do I protect the cookie when cleaning up my computer, which involves getting rid of cookies sometimes?

Sorry, I should have included a link to the screenshot. At the very bottom of the sidebar, you should see this:

    http://drp.mk/i/thNB

The “classic mode” link there will set the cookie for you. The cookie will be cleared if you clear your browsers cookies. You can reinstate it by clicking on that link again.

Well of course I use that. I’ve indicated that that’s usually what I use. It doesn’t stick. If only the default was classic instead of Bee Bop on my head, then the cookie thing wouldn’t matter. But users like myself don’t matter as much as users who want (?) the Bee Bop look, apparently. Ergo…

Thanks for the help. It really doesn’t help though.

But the mess up included a whole bunch of spaces between paragraphs missing, mainly.

Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful in this instance. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do.

Thanks. I do appreciate the help. There are things we can do and things we can’t do. Folks here in the forum have helped me out enormously over the years. Later…
