Beep Beep Boop – Inserting images within text
-
As someone who is relatively new to blogging (since October) I have been utterly thrown by the new “new post” system (beep beep boop) and now don’t know what I am doing.
I can see how to handle all of the text based elements within this new system but what I cannot figure out is how to add images so that they appear within the flow of my text. Yesterday I gave up trying to do so from the “new post” area of wordpress and instead published a half-baked entry so that I could take it in to edit it after the fact and have greater control over image placement.
I can see how to add a gallery of photos – which I do not want – and how to determine the featured image – which is a welcome addition for me. What I cannot see is how I add images within the body of my text, as I tend to sprinkle photos throughout my writing by way of illustration.
I have read the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/adding-images-to-posts-or-pages/ but I am still thrown by that guide – partly because of the jargon but mostly because I am not seeing the same things on my screen as appear in the screenshots in that guide. Critically, for instance, I am not seeing an “add media” button.
I expect the solution is obvious to many but I am afraid that, as a newbie blogger, I need a bit more support with this.
I eagerly await a response and thank you in advance for your assistance.

The original place to create a post with full features to upload images, etc is here Dashboard > Posts > Add New and it works well for me. In fact I never ever use the Add New at https://wordpress.com/post/ which is undergoing changes as part of an ingoing project to make the site multi-device friendly.
Go to Dashboard > Post > Add New
For inserting images see http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/adding-images-to-posts-or-pages/Note that you can post your feedback here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/posting-articles-2?replies=67

Thank you very much for that help. I am such a novice at blogging that I didn’t actually know I could get to the post creation page via the Dashboard. I know. Shameful. Anyway, I appreciate your help and am grateful for you taking the time to reply and guide me.
