Beep Beep Boop screen is a joke. Is this a glitch?
-
I agree robinanne – I NEVER use a mobile device for creating or updating posts. The ONLY times I’ve used it was to “check-in” and see if anyone has commented or liked my posts – check my notifications – and I don’t even reply to them via mobile. I would venture to guess that MOST writers would not be writing via a mobile device – especially those such as myself who utilize a great deal of visualization (true visualization via art, music and specifically paragraphed layouts) – not easily or appropriately done via a mobile device …. not to mention that many writers – the best to the move novice, would most likely NOT prefer thumb typing on a tiny mobile keyboard while typing out the words to their soul. Disaster to the fullest.
I absolutely endorse this.
I don’t even own a smartphone and my iPad is an old hand-me-down that I only use for checking e-mail, occasional web surfing and playing games on. I certainly don’t have the time or patience to work with such a small workspace, let alone the fact that my images and other facets of my post are on my PC hard drive!
If WordPress is going to make a mobile device friendly function then make sure it is ONLY functional for mobile devices and let us PC users keep the original editor!

There’s nothing we don’t already know in that post.
I posted this here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/beep-beep-boop-screen-is-a-joke-is-this-a-glitch?replies=79#post-1992569
Go to Dashboard > Posts > Add New
raincoaster provide a workaround here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/beep-beep-boop-screen-is-a-joke-is-this-a-glitch/page/2?replies=62#post-1993593
I found a workaround!
When you go to the drop-down menu on the left of the grey Admin bar, and you get to NEW, instead of opening up the drop down menu options Page, Post, etc, just click the word New. Gets you straight to the fully featured dashboard editor.

If you are using the editor on your own blog’s dashboard (see: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/beep-beep-boop-screen-is-a-joke-is-this-a-glitch/page/2?replies=62#post-1993593)
and you want to be sure that the issues you experience are not being complicated by any browser and connectivity settings at your end of things, then you will work through what follows.1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

4. You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not then go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and download and install the latest version of flash.
5. Try using another browser.
6. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/

Using Google Chrome, have been using Google Chrome, without any difficulties since joining WP, I have no add-ons, never have – I am not using compatibility mode.

I strongly agree with leeinblack!

@planetdreamdiaries
Which version of Google Chrome are you referring to please? The label is meaningless to Staff without it. Check here: http://supportdetails.com -
Thumbs up to jimellisinsight:
“Got to add my voice to this. The new interface is horrible, and degrades your editing control rather than enhances it. It forces you to take MORE steps to do what you want to do. I agree with many of the posts already written here that there needs to be an ability to opt in to the previous editing format without having to jump through all the hoops of going to your dashboard, clicking on all posts and then clicking on edit post. That new beep, beep, boom thing has to go. I thought I was getting hacked or getting to an error page. Not to mention the editing I was forced into never saved and completely corrupted my entire post making my text editing option MORE confusing and MORE difficult to work in. This is not an improvement at all. I’m all for updating if it adds functionality and capabilities and speed and fewer keystrokes. This update does NONE of that. You want a positive and productive discussion, WordPress? Then address the issues that have been raised in this thread! Thanks!”

Not to change the subject, but this too is a part of this topic – since this “degrade” rather that upgrade — the Reader is no longer updating in real time.

Putting this here for the benefit of the Page 4 Readers:
I found a workaround!
When you go to the drop-down menu on the left of the grey Admin bar, and you get to NEW, instead of opening up the drop down menu options Page, Post, etc, just click the word New. Gets you straight to the fully featured dashboard editor.
To Edit, go to Dashboard->Posts->All Posts and go to the particular post, and click Edit. That gives you the full-featured editor.

I tend to edit nearly all of my new posts – once the final version is posted, I then begin to see inaccuracies or a better way of seeing/saying it.

It’s a long go around – it works, but a long go around … and, since their new blunder – if you notice, all of your code has been changed (tags added, spacing changed, etc.). However, once you take the grueling time to fix it and put it back to how it was originally – once u click update, it will hold those changes. They just need to put the editor back to how and wear it was (now residing within the same screen as the “reader” page – and with pop-ups no less for preview. A disaster – though thank you for re-sharing the work around — still all too time consuming and not resolving many of the issues, but it does work far better than this new boop boop bop gas-light. :-)
-
@ raincoaster – ONLY after I have first spent my precious time redoing the code of my post that they took over and changed – again, all too time-consuming and purposeless.

Sigh, I would not mind this silly new layout if I could resize my images in it…. 2 hits in my book (yes, i am still bitter over the image issue)

Hello Planetdreamdiaries,
I know that the current workarounds are long, especially those of us with over 1,000 Posts like myself, but I would recommend using the Search under All Posts to help you more quickly find the Post that you want to Edit.
I would like things to return to normal or to be improved as well, but until then this is the best approach that I have found so far.
Good luck everyone and I am glad that more people are joining us here at this topic because usually having more people is better than just one or two people reporting something.
