beginner question – post list not the same in a page ?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi there. I’m using the ‘twenty-twenty’ theme

    1. When editing my posts the format is as I want them to be, preview is fine, but when I click the link on the main menu each post appears as a huge chunk without paragraphs, no ‘read-more’ links or anything else. Can you help me please ?

    2. I made a ‘latest post list’ for one of my pages in the page editor, the preview is fine, but if i click the page link on the main menu all of the posts appear at once on the same page without my formatting and they appear as a huge chunk of writing. The word ‘Category’ also appears on the top of the page. Can you help please ? Cheers

I’m not sure that I’ve understood. I compared the editor view of your most recent post with the published view, and they were very similar for me. It sounds like I may not be looking in the same place. Can you share a link to where you are seeing the view you are referring to? Thanks for the additional info!

You are referring to the page here? 中文爱尔兰故事

I noticed that you have set that up to use the Blog Posts block, and that block is created to provide a summary view/list of your recent blog posts. It’s not always able to display the exact content and formatting of the post though, and the appearance of the block is controlled more by the settings you find in the righthand sidebar when configuring the block.

We cover how to use this block in more detail in our recent webinar here:

Is there specific formatting you are trying to preserve? It may help if you can provide a few examples that we can look into more closely. Thanks!

    HI thanks alot for replying.

Actually, I found a solution to my difficulties today by simply changing my theme to ‘twenty twenty-three’. But I’ve a few screen shots here if it helps to clarify the problem …in the first pic you can see the post with paragraphs and formatting – the same as it looked in the editing view.

Next pic: I clicked the link to the same page in the main menu, 中文爱尔兰故事 (yes this one) and all my formatting was gone. The post became a huge unformatted wall of words. The post name is below the header bar. The page title is in the menu and header with the word category ahead of it.

As soon as I changed theme from ‘twenty twenty’ to ‘twenty twenty three’ most of these problems fixed themselves with a little tweaking here and there.
