Being added as an editor/publisher to a company site

    Hi,
I have recently become an intern with an Insurance Agency and I was granted ‘access’ to their WordPress Account/Site that had already been created by the company’s previous web developer. I was given access, however I am unable to view the site that currently exists. From my perspective, it is as if I were starting from scratch with a the basic trial, with my own credentials.

How can I access the site that already exists?

What questions do I need to ask my manager to authorize me to be an editor/publisher for their WordPress account?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there!

It seems your company is using the open source version of WordPress, WordPress.org, to host their website. There are differences between WordPress.org and what we use here at WordPress.com.

Did you receive an email with username and password when you were added as an editor on the website? If not, please ask them to add you as a user(editor) on their site and share the login details.

    Hi,

By open source, do you mean the company is using their own host for the site? If so, do I only need to request access from the host?

From my understanding, if you use WordPress.org, you have to find your own web host.

I am very confused as to how to gain access and I want to ask my manager right questions. Once I have access to the web host, will I need any additional information?

    Thank you for help,

    Johanna
