Being held hostage by our web developer

    Our web developer purchased a domain through WordPress on our behalf (for which we paid him back) and is now asking for ransom in order to release credentials to us. At first, he blocked all access to our website and now he is asking for what amounts to ransom payments to forward credentials to us so we can control our site. (He did the same to us with Shopify — Shopify’s Integrity Team recently agreed with us after an in-depth review and provided us with full access, blocking out our old web developer, and suggesting we go to the police for his illegal, unethical actions. We have terminated this web developer’s services long ago, but he’s attempting to retain ‘leverage’ (his word) to force us to make additional unwarranted payments to him.
