Being reported

  • Unknown's avatar

Being removed from the top blog’s list:
I am a human right activist (specifically writing about women rights) from Iran with a traffic of more than 6000 hits daily. I have been chosen as the second best Persian blogger in DW international competition in 2012. Obviously, I have been under a lot of pressure from Iranian government affiliates or so called cybernetic army.
Recently, I have understood that my blog has been removed from the top blogs list on the wordpress. I suspect that they have reported my blog in a futile attempt to destroy my reputation. Since my blog is neither abusive / adult content nor infringing upon any copy right, I would like to ask on what basis wordpress has removed my blog from the list?
It would be only fair if the content of the blog was reviewed by an expert before making a decision based solely on reports, which might be false allegations made by few people changing their IP as these people do.
I would like my blog to appear on the top of the list, where it belongs to.
Thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.
    Best regards,
    Nesvan

I assume this is what you refer to http://botd.wordpress.com/ however, you have not provided a blog URL.

The team behind WordPress.com strongly believes in freedom of speech. http://en.wordpress.com/freedom-of-speech/

These are grounds for reporting a blog:
    http://en.wordpress.com/abuse/
(no spam, personal threats, incitement of violence, abuse, promoting self-harm/suicide, mature content, etc.)

I tagged this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

    Dear Timethief,
My blog URL was showing at the bottom of the page when I submitted the topic. Anyways, It is :
    http://www.nesvan1.wordpress.com
I believe that I have not violated any of the above mentioned laws. It is hard to understand but the government in Iran is a totalitarian regime .They closely chases the bloggers. In fact, few months ago a blogger was arrested and killed in Iran. Apparently they do not believe in freedom of speach at all! These people were threatening to hack my blog and once they could not do so, have reported my blog. As my blog is in Farsi, no one has actually taken a look at the content.
I truly appreciate your support and looking forward to hearing from a wordpress staff.
    Cheers,

Only staff can look into this, but WordPress fully supports Freedom of Speech and have not caved into demands from anyone, as far as I know, has never blocked or punished anyone for legal freedom of speech.

I’ll tag this for staff attention and hopefully someone will be around soon to look into this for you. They will however need a link to the its you are talking about.

Sorry, ignore my posting. I had been away from my computer for a bit and should have refreshed before posting.

It looks like you’ve been flagged as a mature blog, although I can’t see any reason for that. Then again, I can’t read Arabic.

    Hi Raincoaster,
I am afraid this is not true! and unfortunately, no one can read my blog to see that and they are taking advantage of the situation here.
BTW, it is in Persian ;)

Ah, my bad. Well, I’ve been marked at Mature too, and when I had staff re-examine things they un-Matured me, so just wait it out.

    @nesvan

Yes, the site http://nesvan1.wordpress.com/ has been marked as mature.
    timethief’s comment above:

I assume this is what you refer to http://botd.wordpress.com/ however, you have not provided a blog URL.

is not the blog nesvan is (you are) referring to:
***the original post link is visible only to moderators because it has been designated as mature.***

Mistakes are made sometimes. You should have a link to reach the Terms of Service staff which came with the notification that your blog had been marked as “mature.” (I think???)

If not, then please use the link at the bottom of this support document to reach the Terms of Service team:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/suspended-blogs/
It says it’s for “suspended blogs” but I believe the same staff will be able to help you.

I’ll also leave this thread open, with the modlook tag so that staff will see it. Please use the report abuse link timethief provided only once, and the suspended blog link only once because staff usually works on problems from oldest to newest and adding more only makes your wait for help longer.

I’m sorry, but we volunteers can provide not solution for you.

  • Your blog was marked as mature for the image in the post “عکس پنجشنبه – با تشکر از خانم ن. از مونترال”

If you can remove that image, or even just hide it behind a link with a warning, we’ll remove the mature designation.

    @1tess
Thanks a lot for your time. I have removed the problematic image as macmanx has suggested (although I believe it was only a symbolic picture). Let’s wait and see what happens. Then I will use the link you have sent.

    staff-blorbo
I have removed the image, fingers crossed this will rectify the situation! Thanks again,

  • Thanks, your blog is no longer marked as Mature.

Just to be clear on our policy, nudity = mature, whether it’s symbolic or not.

Yes, sir! Understood. However, my blog is still not showing on the list http://botd.wordpress.com/?lang=fa

  • It will take the blog a few days to reappear.
