Being Told I Am Not Allowed to Edit My Own Blog

  For the past several weeks, I have been getting an error when trying to draft or edit posts that says, “Updating failed. Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this post.”

  It’s my own blog, and I have no idea why this is happening. I have not had problems logging in or staying logged in, as someone on Twitter suggested.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Just to be clear, is the WordPress.com user account (pagesunbound) that you are posting from here the one that you are logged into when you get this error? The reason I ask is because there are 3 users on http://pagesunbound.wordpress.com/ and one of them (user: pagesunbound3) is designated as a “contributor” and would likely have issues editing posts/pages. The other two users are designated as “administrators” and should have no problem editing.

  I’m have the exact same problem, with the same message, and that’s what’s been keeping me from posting. I’m the sole owner.

  @tjjohnston415,

  You are definitely an admin on that site.

  Please check if clearing your browser cache makes any difference. If you’re using any browser add-ons, also disable those to see if it helps.

  Cleared my cache (I’m using Chrome) and some of my extensions. Still getting “updating failed” message.

  Hi there,

  Have you tried to see if using a different browser results in the same error?

  I know some have had success completely logging out of their account, clearing the cache, and then logging back in.

  Let me know if any of that works.

  This time I was able to post and update without the error message. Unsure if it’s because of any action I took of something that happened independently.

  I’m the administrator, as well, not the contributor and have the issue.

  Occasionally I *can* post, and then a couple days later the error comes back again. Sometimes I am in the middle of drafting a post, save it and it’s fine, and the next time I try to save the same post draft five minutes later, it tells me I am not allowed to. I can try logging in and out and all of that, but it’s annoying to do while in the middle of writing a post!
