Believe it or not, I have no dashboard that I can find
-
Where’s the dashboard? I’ve got several issues with my site. Most of the answers seem to involve the mythical dashboard, which the support docs say is “the first place you see when you log into WordPress.” But it’s not. I go directly to the reader page. It allows me to go to “My site” page, but neither gives me a dashboard option. Believe me, I’ve used my search function to find the word dash and there’s nothing. I’ve tried writing in the url with /dashboard. It takes me to the Reader page. I am stuck with just a simple blog until someone can point me to the damn dashboard.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s great. Thanks. Now How do I set it so THAT’S what comes up when I log in? Because I’ve been on Word Press since late winter and that’s the first time I ever saw that page.

The dashboard link for every wordpress.com blog is https://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php
You can bookmark that link in your browser.Note: Bookmarks are known as Favorites in Internet Explorer.

Seriously? Boomark it? Because I never bookmarked the Reader page, that’s just where my browser (Firefox) takes me when I type wordpress.com into the address bar. So where the support page says “the dashboard page is the first thing you see,” that’s not really true. Perhaps the support page should say, “find the dashboard and bookmark it and only use that bookmark to get to WordPress.” Just sayin’.

I memorized that dashboard link years ago. If you don’t want to bookmark it then you can install the meta widget in your blog’s sidebar and use it to log in and log out https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/meta-widget/ Otherwise you can simply write the link down in longhand and keep it close by.
Note that Staff are developing an new user interface and that means some duplication while that is ongoing. This is year 2 now. https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2014/12/16/dashboard-update/ The support docs are continually updated but may be referring to an earlier or a current version. In this case the support docs assume that one is using this login link > https://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php and if that’s the case then the dashboard is the first thing one sees.
