Benefits of an upgrade
-
Hi,
I am wondering if by upgrading (to what level also a question) I will be able to more broadly tweak a theme. E.g. the width of the page, the size of fonts in menus.
And, what will allow me to have the classic editor as a standard (rather than using the classic block?). Perhaps this is a separate question, but I’d like to know how spending money will affect these two concerns.

Hi there,
You receive basic design customisation if you upgrade to any paid plan; you get different levels of freedom to customise depending on your plan. If you want to learn about custom themes and customisation, head to https://wordpress.com/support/themes/uploading-setting-up-custom-themes/ or https://wordpress.com/support/customize/. To learn about plans go to My Site > Plans or https:wordpress.com/support/plan-features/.
The Classic Editor is still available in WP Admin, with or without a paid plan.

If you wish to try out blocks, this support post will help you bridge the gap between the classic editor and blocks:

If you have more feedback about Blocks, head to the forum thread https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/feedback-thread-for-the-block-editor/.I hope this helps!

Hi @cldsnsn,
just to add to what @writer0001 said, if you are interested in using custom CSS code, you will want to upgrade to, at least, plan Premium. On plan Business, you will also be able to use any WordPress supported theme. Here you can read more about our plans and their features:
