    Hi,

I want a full width theme that is easy, intuitive to use. I find The Goran theme difficult to manage.

Best free wordpress.com theme for small business?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello!

It’s all a matter of personal preferences and there really isn’t the best free theme for small business :) However, I filtered a couple of themes which are free and can be found at the URL below:

    https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/business/?sort=free

If you don’t find your favorite among them, just play with the filters and explore all the themes at WordPress.com until you find the one which suits you :)

    Hi dakisha,

Thanks. Is it just me or is wordpress.com (i.e hosted by wordpress), the functionality and ease of use etc, poor in general, erratic and unpredictable between themes?

Very little power in terms of customizing/sorting out issues – not beig able to download plug-ins doesn’t help either.

Example – The Goran theme drops the name of the page on top of the background image, no option to remove it..

I have only been looking at wordpress (premium membership) for about two weeks on-and off, but needless to say i’m not impressed. Am I doing something wrong?

I just want to build and maintain a basic robust site that looks ok.

Lastly, can you help with wordpress support details (not another roundtrip to the forums to drop a message, but personal help?), email address?

WordPress.com provides the ease of use and peace of mind when it comes to maintaining your website and taking care of backups, updates and security which you would need to take care of yourself otherwise.

On the other side, WordPress.com doesn’t offer full access to your website and it doesn’t offer the ability to install plugins (because of the aforementioned reasons) but it leaves a lot of room for customizations of your website.

I am including an article which explains the full difference between WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org):

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

With WordPress.com Premium upgrade, you gain access to Custom Design which allows you to further customize your website and apply custom CSS – https://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/

Basically, it’s just a matter of what you really need – do you want a peace of mind and just want to focus on the content of your website or you want to have full control of your website. This is where you need to choose either WordPress.com or WordPress.org.

WordPress.com support documentation and forum are helpful if you get stuck anywhere along the way and there is always someone who can help with a particular issue. Plus, with WordPress.com Business upgrade – you get live chat and email support.

    Hope this helps :)
