Best path for getting our music player to be accepted on WordPress.com

Hello,
About a year ago we started a music-sharing website named Audiomack which is similar in purpose to soundcloud.com, which is supported by wordpress.com.
Since then we have grown rapidly and now reach over 2.5 million unique users a month. However, we have seen hundreds if not thousands of tweets and emails from users mad that they cannot use our embeds on their wordpress.com.
What is the best path for us to go about getting our embed accepted into the platform? I have read some documentation and it seems like we would have to create a wordpress.org plugin first and then have that get enough traction to warrant inclusion into wordpress?
