Best Premium Theme support? Need to re-teach myself how to use WP

    I have one existing WP site that has my writer’s portfolio, jennikeast.wordpress.com

    However, it has remained static for some time and honestly I’ve forgotten how I even built the thing. It was purely a “seat-of-my-pants” kind of self-propelled project.

    Now I’m looking to create a blog that will be very active (True Writ). But I have to re-teach myself how to do this on WP.

    I’ve looked at Free vs. Premium themes (my portfolio is the Headlines Premium theme) and am leaning towards the Premium option for two reasons: (1) It supposedly offers special support and (2) it offers more creatively unique and usability options then the Free ones …or so it seems thus far.

    Can anyone substantiate if the Free Support for Premium Themes is still true and, if so, which one offers the best, most responsive support?

    Also, I need to find one that is creative, but clean and minimalist while also not requiring knowledge of html which I do not possess.

    I have a blog with a premium theme and several without, and what I would say is that your premise, that you get better tech support with a premium theme, is completely wrong.

    You get better support on questions specifically about the theme, eg “how do I change the header on Opti?” but not more generally, eg “I can’t seem to upload images and need help”.

    None of the themes require a knowledge of HTML, neither paid nor free.

    If you really wish to tinker with themes then get paid hosting and install WordPress.ORG, which allows you to hack the php directly, providing you know how. If you don’t wish to, then just go to the Themes page here and put “Minimalist” in the search box and look at those themes and pick whichever one you like.

    Yes this is still very much true! I’m going to take the theme Zuki as an example. If you go to their support page:

    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/zuki/support/

    There will be a link on the right hand side in the red box for support directly from the theme author.

    As for the most responsive support, I’m not sure which is the most responsive, but they normally reply within a couple days max. If you ever have trouble hearing back, let us know and we can either help you or see what’s going on.

    OK, very helpful. Given my having to re-learn all this, I will go with a Premium theme in hopes that when I need specific theme-related help it will be there. Ugh. Not looking forward to plowing through all this, but Hey, it has to be done as it’s a pretty good bet that thoughts written down on parchment paper by way of a quill pen dipped in ink and sent by carrier pigeon will have rather a limited readership. :)
