Best suited gift card plugin for shop

    We need to create a Category for gift cards in our shop and hereafter add multiple gift cards as an option, each having a fixed amount e.g. in denominations of 100, 200, 300 etc.

    We never used gift card plugins before (which seems to be the way to go in order to handle this challenge) and were able to find a multitude of the former. However, it seems a bit like an intimidating jungle, so we’d really appreciate some guidance on which one could serve us best, considering the above mentioned requirements.

    We’d also be interested in knowing if there are any – completely – free plugins or if there are at least som plugins with – small – charges (e.g. for each gift card purchased by a customer).

    It seems that you tried the Woo Express Trial: https://woocommerce.com/express/.

    However, it seems to have ended, so I won’t be able to see what was going on with the site exactly.

    Regarding the Gift Cards extension for Woo, you may want to refer to the documentation here:

    Hi @dragstor and a big apology for the delay in answer but we have had a crazy, busy period at the office lately.

    Thanks for the heads up in terms of woocommerce and the versions, we are running in which you are most likely correct (we took over the website design from another designer, so we aren’t 100% sure as to what version has been used or installed back then).

    We also checked out your link to the gift cards option for woocommerce but saw, that this would require an annual payment of $59 in order to use this plugin/feature. However, we were hoping that there was a plugin somewhere along those lines, that would do the job without having to use a paid service.

    We can find a number of plugins via Google and in particular through the plugin search within WordPress, but they are a few which makes the task a bit daunting.

    Could you maybe recommend us one of those plugins that are up for grabs out of the lot?

    Hi there,

    We are familiar with the official extension that was recommended previously, but we do not have direct experience with any 3rd party plugins (created by other companies) so it’s difficult for us to guide you.

    With that said it does appear that this plugin is included with Woo Express. You can see that under the Buy Now button on the right. If you are not seeing it then it sounds like an issue for Woo Support to look at directly.
