Best way to browse other blogs?
-
If this paints me as a new guy on the block, that will be most accurate. I am curious to find the best method for browsing the world of wordpress bloggers. Global tags? Forums? What is your preferred method?
Any advice is welcome.

Depends entirely on what you’re looking for. If you’re just interested in seeing what’s out there, the Next Blog arrow on the grey Admin bar is the best way; it’s pretty much straight random. If you’re interested in particular subjects, use a Google search and put:
Searchterm site:wordpress.com
in the search box.

Another thing you might try is starting on your own blog, and clicking on the tags and categories on your posts. This will take you to a page showing other posts on which those tags and cats have been used.
People have often said that those clicks should show posts from your *own* blog, and I share their preference. But if you want to look around and find kindred blogging spirits at WordPresss.com, the actual behavior is better.

“…the Next Blog arrow on the grey Admin bar is the best way…”
They took that away when they redid the Admin bar a few months ago. I asked Matt about it on the weekend and he says they’ll bring it back.

I think searching the global tag pages and using search engines to search for keyword categories and tags is the most effective use of your time.
