Best way to display poetry
-
Hello All,
I’m fairly new to wordpress, so I’m hoping perhaps I can find some answers here. I initially set out to use javascript/php to show/hide text on my poetry page – but I’ve come to learn that’s not possible.
So I was just wondering if there are ways to do this, or any other suggestions can be made? I dislike having a long list of poems. I was considering just putting links at the top and page jumping so it’s easier to navigate, but that might get a bit cluttered. I’ve just recently purchased the package that allows me to tinker with CSS as well. Anyone know of free themes that might aid to my quest? :)
Any advice would be awesome. Thanks.

There are several different ways to split content in your blog posts and pages, including:
The More Tag
Next Page (Pagination)
Page Jumps (Anchor)
Excerpts

Thanks for the reponses. Does more work on pages though? Like, through this page http://leclairstudios.wordpress.com/poetry/ I want you to be able to click the title and have the text appear. Perhaps more only works on posts?

Yes, the more tag works only on posts – and only on the homepage, not when you view a single post. You can use the nextapge tag:

Yeah, I resorted to using nextpage and page jumping links for individual poems. It’s a decent work around I suppose.
Thanks for all the support!
