Best way to index place names on my blog?
-
I blog about travelling around New Zealand in a campervan and want to add a list of place names that link through to any relevant posts that mention that place.
Not sure of best way to go about this.
I already use my categories section otherwise I’d use that for place names instead.
How can I best index place names? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Try using tags, unless you’ll be visiting more than 45 places. If you will be, use Categories, but perhaps make them sub-categories of something like “Destinations” etc.
-
I already use tags for my topics and general tags
Not sure how I could go about setting up sub categories with the ones I’ve already got…
Am willing to change a few things but don’t want to alter a huge amount of my blog that’s just beginning to get regular following
help!!!

You don’t change existing categories and tags, you just add new ones. They don’t interfere.

ok…
How do I add sub categories?
I use Skeptical Theme and cannot see anything for sub categories?? -
When you create a category, you have the option to make it a subcategory. You can also edit your categories on your Dashboard Category page (go to Dashboard and on the left-hand side is an icon for Categories).

Ok – I’m now using sub categories for my locations but ideally I’d love to put a map of New Zealand on its own page with pins that link to relevant posts
I’ve seen something similar done here… http://www.gonewiththewynns.net/?page_id=50
any idea where I start??? -

Can I have the pins link to post on my blog about that location?
and how do I do that?cheers

but if you click on that link I gave above you will see that they have done it… they have the exact thing I want to do … I just don’t know how to do it!

You can try, but I don’t think that the pop-ups will work here at WordPress.com. That’s not a WordPress.com blog; it’s a WordPress.org blog, and they allow code that is banned here.
