Best way to tackle website redesign

    Hi! My client uses WordPress.com Business plan. We are planning to build a website using Elementor plugin with no downtime. Does wordpress.com enables building a staging/test site that can be migrated to the client’s domain once the redesign is completed?

    Hi there,

    We do not offer staging capabilities on WordPress.com, so the only way to do this is to set up a second site (adding the Business plan to that site as well) and then setting it up there, and switching the domain from Site 1 to Site 2 to replace one with the other once the redesign is complete.

    For the second site, we recommend upgrading to the Business Plan on a monthly (instead of yearly) basis as this will reduce the added costs. Once the replacement site is ready you can reach out to us again and we will help with moving the domain, and removing any sites/upgrades that are no longer needed going forward.

    You may also wish to consider https://pressable.com/ which is our partner host. They offer managed WordPress hosting that is very similar to what we offer on the business plan, but they do have staging built in to their hosting platform and included with all accounts.
