BEST WORDPRESS SERVICE IDEA EVER! BLOG SYNDICATION!

Ok so imagine if WordPress offered a service where blogs were directly promoted to major publications looking for similar content. For example, if a blogger posts up a ‘Food and Wine’ event that they recently attended, WordPress would promote that post directly to Foodie Magazine, or The New Yorker, or any other publication that would benefit from adding this content to their website/mag. This way, WordPress would be acting like a “head hunter” for the majors, while acting like an “agent” for bloggers. EVERYBODY WINS! I would DEFINITELY pay for a service like that – WHO’S WITH ME? WIN-WIN-WIN! =D

As someone who has worked for some major publications, I can say, uh, no. There is a woman with a blogger talent agency in Australia, but WP.com isn’t going to act as anyone’s freelance agent. There is no money in freelance agenting. None. Or there would be freelance agents.

They already pick what they consider a “best of” for freshly pressed.

We own our content and although our content does not belong to WordPress.com but under the Terms of Service we’ve still given WordPress.com the right to use it and that’s where reblogging comes in. At present WordPress.com is not doing what you suggest. However. if what you propose ever happens here, I will move my blogs to self hosting so fast heads will spin, and I will never answer another question here again.

it would only take about a week before every WordPress email address was forever in the spam bucket of said publications. Getting hundreds if not thousands of unsolicited emails for say cooking would be a real bummer

I can’t believe how many have drunk the win-wi-win KOOLAID and are inclined to SHOUT! about it.

“Yuck!” Actually, some bloggers would say, “YUM!” I never said it would be MANDATORY, simply a service that WordPress could offer to any blogger interested in it. RE-LAX.

Auxclass, clearly it would have to be set up in a way that major publications were given the choice to solicit WordPress for content, not that it would be forced on any outfit.

Everybody get it now? An OPTION, a SERVICE, not an OBLIGATION. ;)

We got it the first time. What I’m saying is, there’s nothing whatsoever in it for WordPress.com and the targets for this, ie the big blogs/websites, would hate it. I work for some of them. Take my word for it.

If you think this would work, then go ahead and start it yourself. There’s nothing stopping you from reading a million blogs, picking the best, and trying to make deals for them.

“Reading a million blogs”? Lol….ever heard of algorithms? And yes, there would be “something in it for WordPress,” as they would charge for the service for those who wanted it.
