  Hi, I’m new here! Could you please recommend the best free theme on any website? By best, I mean user-friendly. Thanks!

  Any of them. The thing about Wp.com is that it’s user-friendly. It’s user-friendly because it doesn’t encourage difficult things like tinkering with web design.

  The default theme is easy to work with and customizable, so just use that until you bump up against limits that another theme will solve.

  Again, incredibly not helpful.

  Anybody know of a good list for clean center column (that spans almost the whole screen but not quite) themes where the posts would be?

  I don’t really have an answer, but seriously, just check out http://theme.wordpress.com/ and have a look through the themes, you can search for various things that take your fancy, and then just go and try them on your blog. If you don’t like it, then change to another one.
